AUGUST MEETING:
A mah-velous time was had by 41 Hat Ladies who came to Lewisburg in August, looking especially beautiful in their finest hats, I might add. For those of you who missed the Hat Exhibit at The Packwood Museum, it runs until September 29, 2003. You will love it! Thanks to Esther Morris, luncheon coordinator, for making the arrangements with The Lewisburg Hotel.

WEB SITE:
Our brand new web site is just about ready. Thanks to my computer expert, John Knox, who is also my youngest son.

TRAVEL OPPORTUNITIES:
Are you interested in taking a trip to Charleston, South Carolina the first week of March, 2004? The bus would probably leave here on Thursday, March 4th, and return on Sunday, March. March 7th. You would arrive in Charleston late Thursday night, Friday you would explore the Historic District and end with a dinner cruise around the Charleston Harbor. On Saturday, we would "Meet and Eat" with The Hat Ladies of Charleston. Saturday evening, dinner on your own, Sunday, return home. This is of course a tentative schedule and we will coordinate these activities if there is enough interest. If you would like to make this a reality, please let Barb Weaver know no later than October 1st. (Serious interests only.) She will be the coordinator. Her e-mail address is: DKWBRW@aol.com or you may telephone her @570-398-2785.

UNDER THE HAT:
Hat Lady Beverly Ellis had someone stop her on the street in Lewisburg to tell her she looked beautiful from head to toe...and she did!
I received a phone call from an interested hat lady who was told about our organization by the volunteer Meals On Wheels driver.
Hat Lady Andy Doebler tells us that her Mother always said "The general rule is that if the hat looks as if you had it built, it may properly go to daytime functions; but if it looks as if it just landed in your hair (tiny bits of feathers, sequins,or whatever), it goes out at night." A quote taken from Miss Manners Judith Martin
Hat Ladies Jean Steinbacher and Barbara Weaver had to purchase an extra suitcase to bring their 25 hats that they purchased at The Charity Store in England. They were as beautiful as the Queen Mum herself in their hats.
New Hat Lady Pauline Montgomery tells us short ladies what to do with all that fabric that we cut off when we hem our new dresses. Trim your hat! It looks oh so put together.
Keep Hat Lady Suzanne Tagget Lalli on your prayer list. She is a colon cancer survivor and they recently found a spot on her liver. She begins her chemo next week. We all love you, Suze! E-mail her @ suzet@chilitech.net or send her a card of encouragement. Her address is 309 S Main St, Muncy, Pa. 17756.
HAPPY LABOR DAY.
KEEP SAFE, BUCKLE UP AND HAVE A WONDERFUL TIME, FLY YOUR AMERICAN FLAG AND WEAR YOUR BEST RED, WHITE OR BLUE HAT. SEE ALL OF YOU AT JOHNSON'S WITH YOUR HAT & HATTITUDE ON. DON'T FORGET TO TELL ALL OF YOUR FRIENDS WHO ARE HAT LADY WANNABEES. THE MORE HATS, THE MERRIER.
HATS & HUGS, ANNE
