Subject: The Hat Ladies September 2004 Newsletter

My Fair Hat Ladies, August was a g-g-g-g-g-great month!  The Olympics and The Little League World Series!  And what a "gold medal" time we had at Jeremiah's.  It was so much fun to get to know all about each other.  Who knew that Nessie had a matching fishing outfit or that Astrida was from Latvia and Audrey was from England or Pauline was a mayor?  We will definitely do that again.  Please check out our website, www.hatladieslycoming.org. for pictures. Everyone looking gorgeous I might add!
SEPTEMBER 11TH "Meet & Eat":  1200 noon @ The Penn Wells Hotel located in Wellsboro, Pa.  They have a new chef!!  It will be a buffet for $10.50 (inclusive).  Purchase your ticket in the lobby for lunch upon arrival.  Since it is the anniversary of 9/11, let's make it a patriotic luncheon to honor those who died so tragically as well as those who are fighting for our country and to remember what a great place the good old U.S.A. really is.  Put on your red, white or blue come join us in Wellsboro.  It takes about an hour to get there, but the trip is absolutely beautiful.  If you would like to car-pool or don't know the way, you can meet at the back of Wegman's Parking lot.  We will leave the lot @ precisely 10:30 am.  LizTews will put on a Trunk Show with clothes & hats from "The Blue Thistle".  The clothes and hats are "to die for."   Her shop is right across the street, so you may want to shop after the luncheon.  Ask anyone who went last year and they will give her clothes rave reviews.
Reservations:  must be made by Tuesday, September 7th.
Please remember that you may make reservations by email or telephone, but cancellations should be done by telephoning me @ 570-546-2012.  If I do not respond within 24 hrs of your sending email, please resubmit.  Thank you.
Reminder:  If we get charged for your lunch & you did not cancel, if we have to pay, we will pass the bill on to you.
PARKING:  lot next to hotel
A TIP OF THE HAT TO:  All of you who donated food to the Salvation Army Food Bank.  Would you believe that their receptionist is a Hat Lover?  I invited her to join us!
Hats Off: New Members:  JUDY SHRIMP, CAROL STINE AND NANCY CHAMBERLAIN.  Please make them feel welcome.
UNDER THE HAT:

(570-321-6443) Exclusive hand knit hats will be at Danville, Pa. Fall Street Fair on September 11th and @ Canton's Apple & Cheese Festival on September 2nd & 3rd.  Meanwhile, limited selections can be seen at Gifts Of Art Store next to Otto's Book Store in downtown Williamsport.
This & tHAT:  Only another Hat Lady can understand the plight of Lori Dutton, whose new puppy ate the silk flowers from her big black picture hat right before she was leaving to come to the August luncheon. We all sympathized.
Fashion With Compassion: September 15th Lasagna For Learning @ DiSalvo's.  It is a program to promote literacy.  $45/person or $80/couple.  Call Hat Lady Pauline Montgomery (570-584-2941) or email, PAPHARMACY@aol.com. for details.
The Voice of Haven is dedicated to serving and protecting local victims of domestic and sextual violence in Tioga County.  They have a wish list.  Food gift certificates (Bilo, Weis, Wal-Mart), prepaid gas cards, phone cards, disposable cameras, toilet tissue, paper towels, light bulbs, Kleenex, garbage bags, cough drops and batteries are some of the things that are on the list.  You can bring them to the September Meet & Eat and we will see that they get them.  We will also pass the Hat for Hatpy dollars @ the luncheon.  If you have something that you are hatpy about, like a birthday or anniversary or just being alive, or living in a great country,  give a hatpy dollar to help end abuse & violence.
HAT's OFF: Thanks to all of you who volunteered to model on October 10th or November 20th.  If you are going to model in October, please see me immediately following the Meet & Eat.
Advertising:  If you have a product or craft that you would like to advertise in our Newsletter or on our Website, please see me and I will let you know all of the specifics.   A "win-win" situation, we make money for our Hat Lady Monetary Award Fund and you get to tell the Hat Ladies about your product.
NAME TAGS:  We have new name tags.  Pick yours up when you register and please return to me at the end of the luncheon.
Don't forget to make your luncheon reservation.  It is going to be a time to remember!  See you in Wellsboro.           Anne
