The Penn Wells:  If you missed this Meet & Eat, you really missed something great.  The leaves on the drive up & back were spectacular (even with the much needed rain).  We had the wonderful opportunity to meet Christine A. Moore, New York Hat Designer, up close and personal.  She was adorable, very charming and so informative.  She even invited us to come see her workshop in New York City (as long as we go in two at a time).  I feel that it will be a relationship that we will enjoy for a long time to come.  We also came home with some gorgeous hats!  A win-win situation!  It was nice to meet her lovely Mother, too.  It was so good to see Judy Shimp back after a long time away with her broken ankle.

I will soon be in South Carolina & will miss all of you, so wanted to get this in the mail before I left.

NOVEMBER MEET & EAT

Circle November 12th!  We will be at Valley View Nursing Home.  Lunch & High Tea will begin at noon and will be $11.50 (all inclusive).  Please, NO CHECKS OR CREDIT CARDS!  This is always the best lunch of the year served by the staff of Valley View.  It is also a time to make the residents hatpy!  Don’t forget to bring your extra hats & mirrors for them to wear.   We always eat in the front dining room without the residents, then Promenade afterwards in their area.   RESERVATIONS MUST BE IN BY TUESDAY, NOV. 8TH BY EMAIL puttinonthehatz@aol.com or by telephone 570-974-2010.  Cancellations by phone only!

A TIP OF THE HAT

Many thanks to the ladies who helped at The Horror House at The Tabor Museum and also, the ladies who volunteered to be docents for the Victorian House Tour.

Hats off to all of you who brought items for The Haven House.

A great big hats off to Lillian VanCampen for delivering all the things that you brought for The Haven House.  They are always so appreciative!

CHARLESTON TRIP

If you plan to go to Charleston the first weekend in March, now is the time to make your reservation at The Meeting Street Inn.  He has 10 rooms set aside until Jan. 31st.  Prices are week days:  $129 + 12 ½% tax  weekends:  $209 + 12 ½ % tax.  These rates are better than last year and are for double occupancy.  You have 36 hours to cancel, so if you have any idea that you might want to go, I urge you to make your reservations.  Call 1-800-842-8022 or 843-723-1882.  John is the manager and he told me that he absolutely loves the Hat Ladies!  He thinks they are just great.  You will leave Williamsport on Wednesday, March1st and return home on Sunday, March 4th.

Call Dawnita Shoemaker if you are thinking about going.  She is the Travel Coordinator.  Her number is 570-638-0421 or email her @Onewa4me@ptd.net.  She needs to know how many would like to go and how you want to travel…by train or by plane?

Jeanette Steumpfle is looking for a roommate…please let her know if you are interested in going.

HOT HAT HATPENINGS

Thanksgiving is just about here.  Take time to let your love ones know how thankful you are that they are in your life.  Take thirty minutes and go see someone who is lonely!  We have so much to be thankful for.  Our blessings are many so let’s spread them around.  It is a time to put our thinking hat on and see if we are making a difference for someone else in our life’s journey.

SAVE THESE DATES!

DECEMBER 10th:  GENETTI HOTEL WITH VAL KNITZ

JANUARY 14th:  GENETTI HOTEL  “SOUPER BOWL”

FEBRUARY 11th: GENETTI HOTEL  WITH CINDY KOONS & HER FABULOUS HAT ENHANCERS (like the one Carmilla wore when she wed Prince Charles).

HATS OFF TO:

Nessie & Clay Whaley, grandparents of a precious little hat lady in training.  If you want to know anything about Miss Etana (Hebrew for strong & determined) Caitlen Whaley , just ask Nessie!  Her son, Clay, & wife, Jaime, hardly get to hold her with Grandma Nessie & Grandpa Clay around.  I think Nessie has already gotten her a hat to wear.

Hope you all make it to the NOVEMBER MEET & EAT!  Have a wonderful Thanksgiving with your family and loved ones and give thanks for all of your blessings.  I will keep watch over the weather in Williamsport to see what I am missing.  Please keep in touch by email or by phone.  I always love to hear from all of you.   I hope to get some good ideas from the Charleston Hat Ladies while I am there.

HATFULLY,  ANNE
