My Fair Hat Ladies,
What a wonderful program we had in February given by Barb Schmouder. I heard
that her hats were to die for! On March 3rd, 10 Hat Ladies from Lycoming County
arrived in Charleston, S.C. by train, by plane and auto to have the most
enjoyable weekend ever. I am sorry that all of you could not be here. It was
wonderful being with Archie Burkel, The Top Hat, and The Hat Ladies of
Charleston. It was true Southern hospitality!

WEB SITE: By the time you get this or shortly there after, pictures of our Charleston trip should be on the web site. It will make you pea green with envy and start to plan to go next year. Our goal next year is to take at least 20 of you with us in March.
HOT HAT HATPENINGS FOR PUTTIN ON THE HATZ: Continue to check the Sun-Gazette for all the wonderful events that you could wear your hats to.
UNDER THE HAT:
In Charleston, many tourists took our pictures and admired our hats. We even had
another lady who just happened to have her hat with her, join us for dinner on
Thursday night @ Hank's.
Barb Weaver said that the thing she liked most about Charleston was the Southern
hospitality which she became a recipient of each and every day.
41 new hats were brought back to Pennsylvania by 10 Hat Ladies. Guess who bought
the most? Guess who bought the most expensive?
Bev Ellis took this trip, the first one in many years, knowing none of the
ladies who were traveling and had a hatful of fun.
Barb Long was puttin on her dancing hat, trying to learn the Charleston Shag.
Lil VanCampen found a new friend every where she went.
All the Hat Ladies of Lycoming County ate their way through Charleston even
trying collard greens and grits. I was so proud!!!!
A TOSS OF THE HAT GOES OUT TO: Cindy Craddock & Louise Eakin for taking care of the February luncheon in my absence. Esther Morris for booking Hoss's. Barb Weaver for taking charge of the Charleston trip. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
HATS OFF TO NEW MEMBERS: Loretta Floyd, Tricia Maeulen, Dawnita Shoemaker and Constance Williams. Please make these ladies feel welcome. We are so hatpy to have each of you.
DUES: We are going to try a new dues structure in order to make things easier for our VOLUNTEER treasurer, Louise. We will collect dues 4 times a year (unless you are joining for the first time). If you joined in May, June or July, your dues will be due at the July meeting; if you joined in August, Sept, or Oct, your dues will be due at the October meeting; if you joined in November, December or January, your dues will be due in January. They will again be $20/year if you have e-mail; $25/year and 12 self addressed stamped envelopes if you have snail mail.(if you do not submit your envelopes, you will not receive the Newsletter). Checks should be made out to The Hat Ladies.
NEW MEMBERS: This year, you may attend ONE MEETING prior to joining. In order to attend the second meeting, you must pay your dues. Out of town guests are the exception to this rule.
LUNCHEONS: I do my very best to keep the cost of the luncheons to a minimum. It is now impossible with the size of our group to be able to order off of the menu. It takes way too long. If you have any suggestions for places that you would like to go to, please let me or Esther Morris know. There are many places that do not open on Saturday! Put your thinking hats on and let me know all of your good ideas.
PROGRAMS: Although we will not have a program at each Meet & Eat, I am open for any ideas that you might have.
SCHOLARSHIP: JERSEY SHORE HIGH
SCHOOL has been chosen for the first recipient of The Hat Ladies Monetary award
to go to a female high school senior that likes to look good while she is doing
good. The Selection Committee is Debbie Muthler, chair person, Anne Knox, Cindy
Craddock, Louise Eakin & Barb Weaver. It will be given at Class Day. When I find
out when that is, I hope that many of you will attend with your hats on.
I am looking forward to seeing you all on April 17th @ Orlando's. Parking behind
or on Main Street. Have a wonderful Easter and wear your prettiest hat to church
on Easter Sunday! As my ballet teacher you to say, shoulders back, head up,
graceful hands, now float, float, float. You are Hat Ladies, show your stuff!
Hatfully,
Anne Welling Knox
