MY FAIR HAT LADIES,

THANK YOU FOR A WONDERFUL YEAR WITH HATS ON YOUR HEADS AND SMILES ON YOUR FACES!

A good time sharing HAT stories was had by one and all @ The Country Cupboard with everyone looking beautiful. Did you all receive at least one compliment on your hat? I heard as many compliments as the many colors of hats that were there.

HOT HAT HATPENINGS:
JUNE 6th…remember it is a Sunday! 2:00 pm line up at the YWCA and get ready to PROMENADE. (A leisure stroll while dressing in your finest hats and apparel). We want to show Williamsport what we are all about. FASHION WITH COMPASSION. Only guests, friends, and family of THE HAT LADIES will be able to participate. NO DOGS! DOGS ARE NOT ALLOWED IN WAYS GARDENS, so please leave your precious pooches at home.
Each row of 4 will have a captain and everyone will be given a row number. Please find your row & captain upon arrival and stay in your line. If you are a captain, please come with your number written on a piece of cardboard so that your group may find you. I will let you know what row and who your captain is. I am lining up ladies in the order in which I receive their reservations. Please let me know who you would like to be with. We are going to have a ball puttin on the hatz! Put on your best hat-a-tude, grab all of your friends & family & come on down. We are going to knock the sox off the people of Lycoming County & put hats on their heads when they see us promenade. As I always say, they will be pea green with envy and run home and look for their old hats that are hidden away and hopefully will put them back on their beautiful heads.
STRAWBERRY SOCIAL IMMEDIATELY FOLLOWING THE PROMENADE @ TRINITY EPISCOPAL CHURCH @ 3:30 PM. I MUST HAVE ALL RESERVATIONS BY MAY 24TH. The ladies need to order strawberries. Strawberries & shortcake or strawberries & ice cream are $2.00. All drinks are $1.00. This is the best gig in town….and extremely delicious Pennsylvania strawberries.
RESERVATIONS: Call Anne Knox @ 570-323-977 or e-mail puttinonthehatz@aol.com
If you do not get a response within 24 hours, please send again. After our computer died last month, I can tell you this is very important!!!! Oh the age of all this new fangled technology. Don't you love it?
CANCELLATIONS: Call Anne Knox @ 570-546-2012

HAT OFF TO:
Top Hat Archie Burkel for sending us each a lovely carnation on our first anniversary. I had the privilege of nominating Archie for SKIRT'S Woman of the Year and we are keeping our fingers crossed that she will be appearing in the June issue as one of the winners of this prestigious award.
The East Lycoming Shopper, the Luminary & the Williamsport Sun-Gazette who all ran pictures and articles about The Hat Ladies of Lycoming County. Barb Weaver tells us that she is now recognized as a Hat Lady. Bev Ellis says that she too is known as a Hat Lady. Both have had pictures in the paper over this last year with their hats on.

NEW MEMBERS: Joyce Fairfax and Charlene Cella. We are so hatpy to have you with us. Please make them feel welcome!

MORE HOT HAT HATPENINGS:
June: Relay for Life for Cancer Survivors & Friends. See schedule in the newspaper.
UNDER THE HAT:
July: Plan to bring a pocket book that you love to exchange with someone. Make sure it is one that you would give an excellent rating to or that you would not mind reading again. Reading is a great pastime for summer when it is too hot to work in the yard. A good book is like a good hat. It is exciting, brings back memories and reminds us of dreams we once had or those that are yet to come.

HAT CHAT:
There were so many hat stories at our anniversary meeting, but I wanted to share a few with you in case that you were unable to hear what was said.
New member Joyce Fairfax was wearing a beautiful hat at the luncheon when the lady sitting next to her noticed an emery board stuck in her hat. She said she knew she should have had that hat on her head and not on her car seat on the way to the luncheon.
Jean Steinbacher's Mother wore her favorite garden hat.
Laurie Reber reminded us that wearing a hat was like the frosting on the cake.
JoAnne Castell was wearing her Mother's hat…how apropos for Mother's Day.
Cindy Craddock told about one her customers who had been to Charleston and went to a house tour and met a lovely lady in a beautiful hat. Guess who? Archie Burkel. Small world.
Debbie Thomas brought her brochure called Debbie and her 227 hats. Tell your husbands that you have a long way to go to catch up with Deb.
Carmen Preziosi's beautiful hat & purse were bought by her husband. What a guy! Man after my own heart.
Mary Ann Munro was stopped in the parking lot and showered with no not rain, hat compliments.
Loretta Floyd told about Ms Keiser from Newberry and her many hats.
Does anyone remember Neal's Millinery Shoppe in Williamsport?
A friend of Bev Ellis wrote apoem for her after she returned from Charleston. Copies may be had for the asking. Did you know that she had not taken a trip in 19 years before going with the Hat Ladies? She had a hatful of fun!

A HAT FULL OF PRAYERS:
To Lillian Van Campen on the loss of her sister. Please send her a card. Her address is P.O. Box 51 Main St, Morris, Pa. 17744.
To Barb Long who missed the last meet & eat because she is nursing her Mother back to health.
I don't think that either of these Hat Ladies had missed a Meet & Eat since they joined. You are certainly in our thoughts and prayers.
Bettie Gardner is recovering from cataract surgery and doing well.

GUESTS: Please feel free to invite a guest. I know that some of you have asked if a group could join us for a luncheon. We are unable to have a whole group of people join us at this time as I have to give our members first priority to come to the luncheons.

Thanks to all of you who have made The Hat Ladies of Lycoming County a reality. Keep your best hat-a-tudes in your hearts and your best hats on your heads.

See you at THE PROMENADE "puttin on your hatz". Remember that friends are the hats in the wardrobe of life, and boy do I have a lot of wonderful hat friends (and hats).

With a hat full of love, Anne
