July Newsletter

My Fair Hat Ladies, The Promenade was a wonderful event as was our Victorian Tea.  All the ladies looked lovely (as did their escorts).  The Repaz Band brought up the rear with great songs like My Old Kentucky Home.  I wish all of you could have been there.  Hopefully next year.  The people were lined up on the sidewalk waiting on the beautiful Hat Ladies to go by.  Many thanks to Nessie Whaley, Joyce Fairfax, Gail Landers, Lil VanCampen & Rebecca Lusk for all of their hard work putting this event together.  It was fabulous!  A job well done.

July Meet and Eat: Due to circumstances beyond my  control, we will not have a July meeting.  Since it is 4th of July week, I am sure that many of you will be away or have other plans.

August 12, 2006 will be our next Meet & Eat, and it wil be held at The Genetti Hotel in Legends.  Once again, it will be our $10 buffet (all inclusive).   Please have your reservations in by Wednesday, August 9th

BLACK HAT:

It is with great sadness that I tell you that our beloved, Nessie Whaley’s husband, Clay, went to His Lord and Savior on Sunday, June 18th after a long battle with colon cancer.  Our deepest sympathy goes out to Nessie and her family.  His services will be held on Friday, June 21, 2006 @ 1pm @ City Church in Williamsport.  Friends may call from 11am until the service begins.  Please wear your hats if you are able to attend to honor Nessie and Clay.

HAT LADY MONETARY AWARD:  Aubrie Pfirman was the recipient of this year’s award.  She graduated as Valedictorian of her class at South Williamsport High School and is one of 6 children (soon to be seven).  Her Mother said that she had set the bar high for the rest of her siblings.  She is a delightful young lady and has contributed a lot to her church, school and her community while still holding her excellent standard of being an honor student.  This year, we had many applicants from all the high schools (except WAHS, no one applied) and Aubrie was hats above the rest.  We wish her the best of everything!  Look for her picture in Sunday’s paper, wearing her hat, of course.  Aubrie and her Mother promenaded with us and joined us for Tea.

Summer is finally here and everything is blooming and all the birds are singing and it is a time of rejoicing!  I hope you will all have a lot of summer gladness.  Remember to wear those straw hats to shade you from the sun and to keep you cool.  The bonus is that you look smashing while doing it.  I never met a lady in a hat that I didn’t like, or didn’t look perfectly gorgeous.

ARTICLE:

I was very pleased that the Sun-Gazette did such a nice article on my hats and The Hat Ladies.  I really wanted the community to know all the good things that we do.

There are many events to wear our hats to.  Check the paper each week and you will find them.  If you don’t have anyone to go with, just call me or one of your Hat Lady friends.  Summer is such a great hat season!  Even the cheap little hat from Walmart’s looks amazing trimmed with pretty flowers and ribbons.

See all of you in August!

Hats & Hugs,

Anne
